Year 7 and 8's Take Part in Gymnastics.
We had our first gymnastics session for 2016. We were all super excited to be taking part in our group activities. Some of us were realised that we need to work on our flexibility and others need to work on their fitness levels. We are all looking forward to the next lesson next Thursday.

Food for Thought - Packaging.
Today we worked in small groups to read the packaging on particular items that we eat. We were surprised to find how much sugar there was in particular food items. As a class we are trying to make healthy food choices. We will be creating a meal to share together using a set of Food for Thought vouchers.

Thank you to the Heart Foundation for providing the vouchers for us to purchase our ingredients. Watch this space - we will have a meal made soon.

Food for Thought.
Today the Year 7 group of students had a visit from the Heart Foundation. We were sharing all of the things that we know about what we need to eat to grow and be physically active.
We came up with a lot of things that we need.
We wonder if the Year 8 group will be as detailed.

Matariki
We are learning what Matariki is and why we celebrate it in New Zealand.
Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. It rises in mid-winter – late May or early June.
For many Māori, it heralds the start of a new year. Matariki literally means the "eyes of god"; (mata
ariki) or "little eyes" (mata riki).

Community is Home - Pitomata and Amua Clean Up Hayes Stream.
On Thursday 2nd June Amua and Pitomata Whare Hubs worked together to clean up the Hayes Stream and park space across the road from our school as part of our Community is Home Inquiry.
There were members of our community, Auckland Council Members, Parents and Whanau who assisted us to make the space clean and tidy ready for our planting session later in the Term.

Timatanga and Whanakitanga Whare Hubs cleaned up Keridown's Park together too. They worked very hard to make our Community Space a clean and tidy place to be.

The Duffy Show at Red Hill School.
Yesterday we were lucky enough to have the Duffy Team visit Red
Hill School and share a story about the importance of learning to read. The
team took us back in time to when World War Two occurred and this linked to the
work that we have just completed about ANZAC Day and linking to our
"Community as Home" Inquiry.

Learn, Create, Share connects to our High Ten Learning Qualities.
At Red Hill School we have High Ten Learning qualities that we strive to achieve each week. All of these qualities link to Learning, Creating and Sharing.
Here are my ideas.
Isitolo.
Learning, Creating and Sharing.
We have all been sharing our ideas about learning, creating and sharing. Some of us remember things better when there are visuals to support our brain to store the information. I need to have a combination of visuals and written words.

Learn, Create, Share.
The Rongomatane and Tane Mahuta Roopu are working together to show their understanding of what it is to Learn, Create and Share.
Each of us have created visual representations to share with others.
