In The Fields.

In the Fields

In Flanders Fields Poppies grow,
Rocking in the wind to add fro.
The wonderful dead,
Rest respected in their beds.

If only, If only I could see you again,
I’d give you my heart for one hug,
My friend.

In Flanders fields you lie in peace,
In your heart R.I.P.
In Flanders Fields poppies grow,
Stone crosses lined in a row.

Our ANZAC Poem Thoughts.

ANZAC Soldier. I will…...
I am a New Zealand soldier.
I am a warrior and a member of a team.
I serve the people of New Zealand.
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
I am a guardian of freedom and the New Zealand way of life.
I am a New Zealand soldier.

The Red Hill Year 7 and 8's Go Flying...

A group of Year 7 and 8 students were lucky enough to take part in a special event with the Bluelight Franklin Group. (Police working together in our Community) We flew from the Ardmore hangers to Raglan, had lunch in Raglan and then flew back to Auckland via the Coromandel Peninsula. We had a fabulous time. It was a bit scary at first but once we were moving we became more confident. It was absolutely awesome........Thank you Constable Kylie for taking us. We are truly grateful!

The Chocolate Muffin Challenge.

In Amua Hub we have been working together to create an animated set of slides to show how we made muffins in the microwave. The recipe said to cook for 2 minutes however our microwave was super powerful so we had to only cook them for 1 1/2 minutes because Miss Castle couldn't adjust the heat setting. Even with the hick up the muffins were yummy!

Our Mainfreight Art Challenge.

In Amua Hub we have been talking about the topics and themes that we like to read and write about. We have been creating crayon and dye pieces to show our likes instead of using words. Can you tell what we like to read about?

Amua Camp 2017.

Our Year 7 and 8 students have returned from a very successful camp experience. A special thank you to Ms Kereopa for all of her hard work to shape, organise and lead this year's camp. It was a very special event this year and one that I am sure that the students will remember for a long time. She and her team including Granny Hetaraka, Miss Parker and Matua Hemi ran a tight ship at camp. The school is also very grateful for the generosity of the Highwire Trust and their support of the camp and also the Whitehouse Tavern Trust who also provided financial assistance to ensure that this experience was able to go ahead.

Our School Values.

This year we have five core school values that we are focussing on and building -:

Respect Honesty Co-operation Tolerance Responsibility

Each of these are equally as important and underpin our school principles for the year. Students will be discussing these in classrooms and sharing at home as part of their weekly homework. We encourage whanau to share their ideas about our values with their children and the school would welcome feedback.

At Red Hill School - We are our own Taonga. (Treasure).

We are working with students to reshape how we think about ourselves and our learning. One of the key statements we are working on is -

File:Basket (splint), Nauset ...

At Red Hill School - We are our own Taonga. (Treasure).

We are working with students in four key areas -
Taha tinana (Physical health)
- physical growth and development.

Taha wairua (Spiritual health)
- faith and wider communication. Unseen and unspoken energies.

Taha whānau (Family health)
- to belong, to care and to share

Taha hinengaro (Mental health)
- to communicate, to think and to feel

We encourage whanau to share their ideas about how the school can continue to encourage our children to value themselves for the treasure that they are and the positive impact they can have on and with others.

Year 8's Prepare for Graduation

The Year 8 students are preparing for their last week at Red Hill School. Everyone is part of an item that is going to be shared on Monday night so every moment to practise is important.

We have all learnt to waltz so that we can dance with our mum's and dad's as well as dance to our "Happy" song.

We are all excited about 2017 when we will be off to High School. We can't wait!

Our Rainbows End Experience.

The Year 5-8 students were lucky enough to be able to attend the Rainbows End Reward Trip a fortnight ago. Although it rained for most of the day we made the most of the rides that we were able to take part in.

By noon the weather had fined up and a whole lot of schools had already left. This gave us the run of the park so we had several rides on all of the attractions. It was awesome!

Roman's Fishing Experience.

Tuesday 11TH October 2016

Roman’s Fishing Trip 2016.

Roman got a new kawhai fat fish.
It was running away from my fishing rod and then the fish I had on my reel pulled me. I reeled the fishing rod and I caught It.

The fish I caught was bigger than me. The fish was so heavy that it almost pulled the rod into the water.
I went to Devonport with my brother Joel and my dad Brian.

My brother Joel caught 2 juicey kawhai fish I was so happy for my brother Joel. Afterwards we cleaned the fish then we went to home.
